SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Computer Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, peripherals, and approved software applications. The technician supports hardware rollouts by preparing, imaging, configuring, and deploying devices according to company specifications. A key responsibility includes reconditioning returned or decommissioned equipment by inspecting, testing, repairing, cleaning, and preparing devices for redeployment or proper disposal.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS (each duty and function listed indicates % of time):

  • Performs software and hardware installations and configurations. – 50%
  • Reconditions/cleans/restores/preps returning equipment for re-deployment. – 30%
  • Perform repairs on all equipment deployed including servers, desktops, laptops and related peripherals. – 10%
  • Provides additional delivery and installation support to Office Technical Administrators as needed. – 10%

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS (each function listed indicates % of time):

  • Arrange for on-site repair of equipment under warrantee. – 5%
  • Performs Dell warrantee repair work. – 5%
  • Research optimum configurations for deployed systems. – 10%

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in the field.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of computer Hardware and peripherals including the ability to troubleshoot and repair computers.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot new technology.
  • The qualified candidate must be very organized with documentation and filling.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
  • Ability to communicate with advanced level outside tech support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication are a plus.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS (written & verbal):

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English via telephone and email as well as ability to document all work performed in the service management system is required.

COMPUTER/SYSTEM SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of computer Hardware and peripherals including the ability to troubleshoot and repair computers.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot new technology.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Need to be able to effectively manage projects, keep stakeholders apprised of progress and status. Ability to organize information and document all work performed.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • CompTIA A+ certification preferred
  • Dell Tier II certification is a plus
